Kanika Mukherjee explores the connection between nature, memory, and material through her textile-based artworks. In her series Landscape in Cotton, she transforms discarded clothing fragments into poetic landscapes, where fabric suggests natural elements like water, sky, and fields.

Using handwoven khadi and other textiles, Mukherjee gives forgotten materials a new identity, allowing textures, colours, and patterns to express nature’s continuity and beauty. Her works reflect changing seasons, solitude, and imagined environments while creating a sense of familiarity and wonder.

With over three decades of practice, she combines textile collage with charcoal, dry pastels, and oil to create layered compositions rich in visual and emotional depth. A graduate of Delhi College of Art, Mukherjee’s work highlights the relationship between sustainability, memory, and artistic transformation.
