Mohan Naik is a contemporary artist known for his idyllic portrayals of rural Goan life. Living in a village in South Goa, he draws inspiration from his natural surroundings, childhood memories, and everyday experiences. His paintings focus on villagers, farmers, and simple moments of rural existence rather than the popular imagery of Goa’s beaches and tourism.

Initially influenced by Indian miniature traditions and old masters, Naik developed his own artistic identity through continuous experimentation. His works feature simplified forms, elongated figures, and carefully balanced compositions that retain traces of miniature aesthetics. He uses warm colours such as golden yellows, ochres, and oranges, reflecting the landscape and atmosphere of Goa.
