Shaji Appukuttan, born in 1970 in Kerala, is a contemporary Indian artist known for his deeply expressive works inspired by nature, spirituality, and the human connection with the environment. He completed his graduation from the Government Fine Arts College, Thrissur, between 1985 and 1989. His artistic practice reflects a sensitivity towards landscapes, organic forms, and the emotional energy of natural surroundings.

Appukuttan’s paintings often explore the harmony between earth, life, and consciousness. His works create contemplative spaces where textures, colours, and forms come together to evoke a sense of calm and introspection. Themes of compassion, spirituality, and ecological awareness frequently appear in his practice, revealing a deep engagement with the natural world.

His notable exhibitions include Symphony of Land at Lalithakala Academy Art Gallery, Kozhikode; Karuna at White Walls Art Gallery, Ernakulam; and Spiritual Earth at Durbar Hall Gallery, Ernakulam. He was also part of the landmark exhibition Lokame Tharavadu curated by Bose Krishnamachari for Kochi Biennale Foundation in 2021.
