Born in Kerala in 1970, Zakkir Hussain is a contemporary artist who holds a degree in painting from Trivandrum and a Master's from MS University of Baroda. Currently based in Ernakulam, his mixed-media works serve as a powerful declaration against global order, channeling forgotten histories and the language of the unspeakable.

Hussain’s dense, agitated compositions explore the friction between human impulses and controlling social institutions. His oeuvre is defined by dynamic transformation, yet anchored by recurring motifs like the repeated house, the wounded boy, and the empty dress. These elements critique a world marked by entropy rather than evolution.

A prominent figure in the contemporary art scene, Hussain participated in the inaugural Kochi-Muziris Biennale (2012). He has showcased his work globally, with notable solo exhibitions including Procrustean Possibilities (2018) and major group exhibitions like Lokame Tharavadu (2021).
