Babu Xavier, based in Trivandrum, Kerala, is known for vibrant paintings filled with vivid colours and imaginative creatures. Born in 1960, he discovered his passion for art during his university years and later trained under K. C. S. Paniker at the Cholamandal Artists' Village. His works feature human-like figures, fantasy forms, and symbolic imagery created through luminous watercolour techniques.

Xavier’s paintings explore themes of sexuality, mortality, consumerism, and the contradictions of modern life. Rejecting art as mere decoration, he creates works intended to provoke thought and emotional response. His signature barcode motif reflects contemporary consumer culture and the influence of markets on human existence. With numerous exhibitions and awards, Xavier remains a significant voice in Indian contemporary art.
