Sunil Das was a renowned Indian expressionist painter known for his powerful and dynamic depictions of horses, bulls, and human relationships. Born in Kolkata, he studied at the Government College of Art & Craft and later trained at École des Beaux-Arts in Paris on a French Government Scholarship. His artistic journey was deeply influenced by movement, energy, and the emotional intensity of life.

Das became widely recognized for his iconic Horse Series, where he captured the strength, speed, and restless spirit of the animal through bold lines and expressive forms. His fascination with bullfighting during his visit to Spain inspired his celebrated Bull Series, adding themes of power, struggle, and raw instinct to his work.

Beyond animals, Das explored the complexities of human relationships, particularly the experiences of women — their strength, individuality, desire, and solitude. With a career spanning numerous international exhibitions, Sunil Das remains an important figure in Indian modern art, celebrated for his emotional depth and fearless expression.
